Black Bush triple murder: Trio please guilty to manslaughter

The trio who pleaded guilty to manslaughter

Two men who were charged with murdering a man, his son, and his relative back in 2016 at Black Bush Polder, Corentyne Berbice, pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Rakesh Karamchand called ‘Guh to Front’ and Carlton Chaitram called ‘Lie Man’, who were on trial for the capital offence of murder, opted to plead guilty to the lesser offence when they appeared at the Berbice High Court on Wednesday.

The police facts stated that on July 20, 2016 at Mibicuri Creek, the men unlawfully killed 37-year-old rice farmer Pawan Chandradeo; his 15-year-old son, Jaikarran Chandradeo as well as his brother-in-law Naresh Rooplall, 33.

On January 24, 20-year-old Jairam Chaitram, the son of Carlton Chaitram, pleaded guilty to three counts of murder in relation to the deaths of the trio; he will be sentenced next week Thursday. Sentencing for his father and Karamchand has been scheduled for Thursday, February 17 before Justice Sandil Kissoon.

Meanwhile, the High Court will continue with the trial for Tameshwar Jagmohan called ‘Guana’, who was jointly charged with the others for the killings, tomorrow. The case is being prosecuted by State Counsel Abigail Gibbs.

According to reports, the bodies of the two men and the teen boy were discovered bearing gunshot wounds. Police had said that Chandradeo and his son were shot to their heads while Rooplall was shot to his neck.
