Future Homeowners Tour Block ‘B’ Experiment Housing Scheme as Development Progresses

June 5 2025- Dozens of families allocated house lots at the Block ‘B’ Experiment Housing Scheme in Region Five were given a firsthand look at the development that will soon become their new community.

The Ministry of Housing and Water facilitated a special engagement combining a virtual tour and on-site visit, aimed at keeping beneficiaries closely involved in the transformation process.

The initiative is part of the Ministry’s wider push to ensure transparency and foster community involvement in housing development. With construction visibly advancing, many allottees expressed enthusiasm as they envisioned settling into their new homes.

Leading the visit was Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal, who assured future residents that the scheme is being developed with careful planning and essential infrastructure in mind. He was accompanied by the Regional Housing Officer from the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA), the Regional Manager of Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI), and a technical team, all of whom were on hand to answer questions and provide project updates.

Block ‘B’ Experiment Housing Scheme comprises nearly 250 house lots. Phase one of infrastructure works—focused on road construction, water distribution, and electrical systems—is already 55% complete. These foundational services are scheduled for completion by September, positioning allottees to begin viewing and preparing their individual lots by October.

In addition to the in-scheme development, Minister Croal announced plans to rehabilitate the main access road leading to the area, which will enhance accessibility and support long-term mobility for residents.

During an interactive session, allottees engaged directly with officials and received detailed updates on timelines and services. The event also reaffirmed the government’s broader commitment to reducing the national housing backlog. To date, over 1,900 house lots have been allocated in Region Five alone.
