First Homes in Yarrowkabra Homestead Project Set for July 2025 Completion

April 3, 2025 – The first 25 homes in the Yarrowkabra Homestead Project, located along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway, are on schedule for completion by the end of July 2025.
Yesterday, Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal, and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister with Responsibility for Public Affairs, Kwame McCoy, conducted an inspection of the ongoing construction.

They were accompanied by technical staff from the Central Housing & Planning Authority (CH&PA) and Edward Pillay, Operations Manager of DuraVilla Homes, the company responsible for the housing units.
The Yarrowkabra Homestead Project is part of a $6 billion housing initiative announced last year by President Dr. Irfaan Ali. This project will see the construction of 500 homes, integrating agricultural development and solar energy solutions.
The Ministry of Agriculture is leading the establishment of shade houses, while the Office of the Prime Minister is overseeing the installation of solar power systems.
Designed to support single mothers and promote economic empowerment, the initiative will allow residents to utilize shade houses for income generation, helping them meet mortgage obligations. Each home in the project spans 625 square feet and includes two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom.
Infrastructure development in the area is also progressing steadily, with an 800-meter concrete road currently under construction. Electrical networks are already in place, and a new well will be drilled to provide potable water for residents.
