GDF Clarifies: Man Facing Assault Charges Is Not a Serving Member
April 3, 2025 – The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) has issued a statement clarifying that Marvin Douglas, who is currently facing multiple charges related to assault, is not a serving member of the Force.
The clarification comes after a report in a local newspaper indicated that Douglas was identified in court as a GDF member, based on information provided by an attorney.
According to the GDF, Douglas was officially Struck Off Strength from the Force on July 29, 2013 and has not been affiliated with the military since.
The GDF emphasized the importance of accurate reporting and urged the public to take note of this clarification.
