655 grams cannabis found during Mahdia operation

Police in Regional Division #8 have launched an investigation following the discovery of a quantity of suspected cannabis during an operation in Mahdia, Region Eight.

The discovery was made on Monday, March 16, 2026, between 09:45 hrs and 11:50 hrs at School Street, where ranks were conducting a targeted exercise in the area.

According to reports, officers carried out searches in the vicinity when a black plastic bag was found concealed in nearby bushes. The bag contained several transparent plastic packages, including smaller ziplock bags filled with leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis.

The suspected narcotic was taken to the Mahdia Police Station, where it was weighed and amounted to a total of 655 grams. It has since been lodged as evidence.

No arrests have been made in connection with the discovery, and investigations remain ongoing.
