June 19 2025
Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo reaffirmed the People’s Progressive Party’s (PPP) commitment to national unity and equal opportunity for all citizens during his weekly press conference held on Thursday.
Addressing recent concerns about divisive rhetoric, Dr. Jagdeo emphasized that the PPP remains focused on advancing policies and programmes aimed at improving the lives of all Guyanese, regardless of background.
He noted that the party is actively working to expand access to employment opportunities, education, and training through various initiatives, including scholarships.
The Vice President raised concerns over what he described as the spread of racist propaganda, particularly in light of sentiments expressed following his recent outreach to Region 10.
Dr. Jagdeo indicated that residents of Linden, and Region 10 more broadly, have shown growing frustration with inflammatory narratives, and the government is committed to engaging with all communities to promote progress, development, and unity across the country.
He pointed out that such rhetoric does not reflect the values of the broader population and emphasized that the PPP will continue to challenge any form of division that undermines national cohesion.
