VP Hands over 22 garbage trucks to Reg Six NDCs

Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo on Friday handed over 22 garbage compactor trucks to 19 Neighbourhood Democratic Councils (NDCs) and three municipalities in Region Six, as the Government continues its push to strengthen solid waste management systems nationwide.
The handover ceremony forms part of a broader national initiative aimed at improving public sanitation services and enhancing the capacity of local government bodies to manage waste more efficiently.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Jagdeo reiterated the Government’s commitment to improving essential public services and supporting local democratic structures across the country.
He noted that the vehicles will be placed into active service to improve waste collection in the respective communities.
The initiative is expected to significantly boost sanitation operations in Region Six, contributing to cleaner and healthier communities as part of the Government’s wider development agenda.
