A 40-year-old Rupununi farmer has pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge in the Boxing Day 2018 killing of a Brazilian farmer.

Darrell Williams called “Fox”, who was initially indicted for the capital offence of murder opted to plead guilty to the lesser count, when he appeared before Demerara High Court Judge Brassington Reynolds.

On December 26, 2018, at Moco Moco Village, Central Rupununi, he unlawfully killed 44-year-old Elvis Aulicio, a farmer of Bon Fim, Brazil. Sentencing for Williams, who is currently on remand, will take place on October 28.

According to reports, Williams and the now dead man were known to each other. On the day in question, they were both at a birthday party when Williams accused  Aulicio of stealing his haversack that had ‘labba’ meat in it.

As such, Williams became annoyed and followed Aulicio into the Moco Moco savannah where he dealt him a stab to his neck before escaping. Aulicio was found on a track in the open savannah with wounds to his back and forehead.
