‘Vote with a clear conscience’ Ali tells security ranks

August 22, 2025
“Vote with a clear conscience,” was the 11th-hour appeal from the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) Presidential Candidate and incumbent Head of State, Irfaan Ali, as he addressed a campaign rally at Novar, Mahaicony last evening, urging members of the Disciplined Services casting early ballots today, to “secure your future” at the polls.
To the “hardworking men and women in uniform, we stand by you and we shall stand by you. We have worked for you and we will continue to work for you. And tomorrow (Today), you will vote to secure your future. And my only message to you is vote with a clear conscience. And once you vote with a clear conscience, you will vote People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C).”
Addressing another sizable gathering Ali said, “We have shown you what love is. We stood by you, we returned what they took away from you.”
Touting this year’s election akin to a referendum on bread-and-butter benefits for service members and their families he was adamant, “…you are voting for home ownership. You are voting for expanded child care for your children. You are voting for expanded medical services. You are voting for a better future for you. You are voting for your country.”
According to the PPP/C hopeful, “..we stood by you; we have worked for you and we will continue to work for you.”
While today’s early voting is the officially gazetted day for members of the Joint Services, those unable to cast their ballots will still be able to vote on September 1, 2025.
Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), has confirmed that 10,481 ranks are listed to vote, including 6,909 from the Guyana Police Force, 3,106 from the Guyana Defence Force, and 466 from the Guyana Prison Service.
