Veteran Journalist Michael Jordan Honored with Lifetime Achievement

April 17 2025— The Guyana Press Association (GPA) has presented veteran journalist Michael Jordan with its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award was handed over during a ceremony held last evening at the Herdmanston Lodge in Georgetown.
Jordan, who began his journalism career in 1991 at the Guyana Chronicle, has since made significant contributions to the field, working with numerous media houses and focusing primarily on health and crime reporting.
Over the years, he has earned widespread recognition for his investigative journalism. Notably, he received a Pan American Health Organization award in 1994 for Best News Story and was highly commended by the Guyana Police Force in 2016 for his role in helping to solve a cold case.
Jordan is particularly known for his popular column Murder and Mystery, through which his reporting has aided in solving several criminal cases, including long-standing cold cases.
Beyond journalism, he is also a published author. His recent works include Kamarang and the Guyana Prize-winning novel The Girl in the Pink Pleated Skirt.
The GPA’s Lifetime Achievement Award celebrates Jordan’s decades-long commitment to journalism and his enduring impact on investigative reporting in Guyana.
