ANUG says PPP/C will win the 2025 General Elections

A New and United Guyana (ANUG) – one of the small opposition parties which rose to prominence at the last general and regional election – is predicting that the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) will win this year’s elections.
This position was articulated by Chairman of ANUG, Dr. Mark France, during a recent interview on the Freddie Kissoon show which was aired across several social media platforms over the weekend. It should be noted that ANUG is one of the smaller parties which will be contesting the same elections later this year.
“As things are looking right now it is most likely the PPP/C who would be winning the election either with a majority or a minority,” Dr. France told the listening audience.
His prediction is consistent with that of several political analysts whose only point of contention is the number of seats the ruling party is likely to secure at the polls.
ANUG’s optimism, however, is that the PPP will be denied a majority in the National Assembly with the emergence of a “third force” which it hopes to lead.
“The numbers prove that a united third force stands the best chance of possibly having what I may deem a successful election in [sic] having a minority government,” the Chairman said, adding that his party has no intention of coalescing with either of the three major parties – the PPP, the A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), nor the Alliance for Change (AFC).
Talks between the APNU and AFC on the re-formation for a coalition to unseat the PPP collapsed last week, and the AFC announced that it would be contesting the polls on its own. In 2015 the APNU+AFC coalition defeated the PPP after its 23-year rule. Three years after the coalition government collapsed with the successful passage of a no confidence motion brough against it.
Since the start of this year, several smaller groups and individuals have indicated that they will contest this year’s elections which are expected in November.
Publisher of Kaieteur News, Glenn Lall, though not associated with a political party, has boldly announced that he will be the next President of Guyana.
