
Police have launched an investigation into a deadly accident that occurred on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, around 15:15 hrs at Moblissa along the Soesdyke–Linden Highway.
The crash involved a parked motor lorry, GAG 3120, and a motor car, PRR 5367. The lorry had reportedly developed mechanical problems and was parked on the eastern side of the roadway, where its driver, 49-year-old Brian Manoharlall of Agricola, East Bank Demerara, was attending to the vehicle.
According to preliminary findings, the motor car was travelling south at what is believed to have been a high rate of speed when the driver, 32-year-old Asham Sultan of Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo, lost control.
The car struck Manoharlall, who was positioned at the rear of the lorry, before slamming into the back of the parked vehicle.
Both men sustained severe injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor from the Linden Hospital Complex.
The bodies have been transported to the Linden Hospital Mortuary, where post-mortem examinations are expected to be conducted as investigations continue.
