75-Y-O Man Murdered at Stanleytown

Authorities have launched an investigation into the alleged murder of a 75-year-old man at Stanleytown, West Bank Demerara.
According to a police report, the incident reportedly occurred on Friday, December 26, 2025, at about 05:40 hrs, resulting in the death of Athlone Goring.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim, who had recently arrived in Guyana, was discovered lying in the upper flat of his residence with what appeared to be multiple stab wounds.
He was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty. The body has since been taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Home, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Police have questioned several individuals in connection with the incident. Two persons—a 20-year-old male and a 22-year-old female—have been arrested and are currently in custody, assisting investigators.
CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed as the investigation continues.
