A sex worker who the court heard slashed a man on his left hand with a surgical blade moments after asking him if he was doing ‘business,’ was on Monday charged and remanded to prison.

Ronda Junior of South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, appeared before Magistrate Dylon Bess at the Georgetown Magistrates’  Court.

She pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on April 1, at Regent and Wellington Streets, Georgetown, while armed with a surgical blade, she robbed Joel Jacobs of $208,000.

Facts presented by Prosecutor Doodnauth Bridgemohan stated that on the day in question, Jacobs was walking along Regent and Wellington Streets, when Junior asked him if he wanted to do ‘business’ with her. The man proceeded to walk away, and while doing so, Junior along with two unidentified men allegedly walked up behind him. One of the men choked the virtual complainant while the other pushed his hands into his pocket and removed the cash mentioned in the charge.

It was then that Junior pulled out a surgical blade and cut Jacobs on his left hand. The matter was then reported to the Police station and following an investigation, Junior was later arrested and charged. Police are on the hunt for her alleged accomplices.

The Prosecutor objected to bail being granted to the defendant on the grounds of the serious nature and prevalence of the offence.  The Magistrate after listening to the facts remanded Junior to prison.  The mother of one returns to court on April 19.
