‘Tik Tok Uncle’ among three being sought by ERC

January 8 2025
TikTok personality Reshie Mangal is among three individuals being sought by the Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) after repeated attempts to make contact regarding matters filed with the Commission proved unsuccessful.
In a public notice issued by the ERC, Mangal, along with Tyrese Algernon and Orlando Xavier Ferreira, is being asked to make immediate contact with the Commission to address cases relevant to them.
The ERC warned that failure to comply will result in further action.
However efforts to contact the ERC for clarification on the specific nature of the matter involving the social media commentator have so far been unsuccessful.
Speculation surrounding Mangalโs inclusion centres on a series of videos he posted on his TikTok platform during the recent holiday season.
In the videos, Mangal called out several individuals using language that some have described as offensive. Mangal later stated that the videos were recorded while he was under the influence of alcohol.
The videos were reportedly deleted, and Mangal issued apologies and explanations, admitting that the content was created in what he described as a drunken stupor.
Meanwhile, the issue has sparked debate online, with some social media users rallying support for Mangal. Supporters argue that he did not physically harm anyone, that the videos were removed, and that apologies were issued shortly after.
In its notice, the ERC stated that after three or more futile attempts to contact the individuals listed, it was compelled to issue the public advisory.
The Commission reiterated its call for Reshie Mangal, Tyrese Algernon and Orlando Xavier Ferreira to urgently contact the ERC to address the matters before it.
