Nurses, Specialist Doctors, other healthcare workers get salary increases

President Irfaan Ali on Monday evening announced salary increases for various groups of healthcare workers in keeping with a promise made by the Government to adjust the salaries of public sector workers.
“These revisions to the salaries of these workers will benefit more than 5,000 persons and will increase disposable income by more than 1.5B annually,” he said via his social media pages.
The salaries will be adjusted as follows:
Medical Interns – from $151,374 to $200,000
Medical officers – from $219,878 to $300,000
Specialist doctors – from $276,536 to $450,000
Nurse Aides and Patientcare Assistants – from $80,892 to $100,000
Nursing Assistants – from $88,525 to $115,000
Midwives – from $96,974 to $169,438
Staff nurses – from $111, 628 to $169, 438
Staff Nurses’ Midwives – from $127,963 to $195,000
Pharmacy Assistants– from $84,662 to $100,000
Dental aids and laboratory aids – from $80,892 to $100,000
Community health workers – from $88,525 to $100,000
Medex – from $152,420 to $200,000
Pharmacists – from $127,963 to $215,000
Medical Officers with over one (1) year post-employment experience will now earn $351,204 in line with current practice at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Medical Officers with over two (2) years of post-employment experience will now earn $414,032.
Medical Officers with over three (3) years of post-employment experience will now earn $446, 160.
The President noted that these increases will be added to the 8% retroactive increase in salaries previously announced for 2022 and will take effect from January 1, 2023.
“We ask of our healthcare workers to deliver at the highest level…with patience and love, dedication and commitment and trust and fulfilment of your oath,” he said to the workers.
The Government is working on adjustments to salaries to selective categories of public sector workers in order to attract young professionals and provide more disposable income to the population.
