Three Local Firms to Build Fixtures for Jaguar FPSO

November 12 2024 – Three local fabrication companies—InFab, Zeco Group of Services, and Guyana Oil and Gas Support Services Incorporated—have been contracted to produce key fixtures for the Jaguar floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel.

A steel strike ceremony held at Guyana Shorebase Incorporated (GYSBI) in Houston, East Bank Demerara today  marked the start of the fabrication process for the vessel’s structures and topsides modules.

The Jaguar FPSO, Guyana’s sixth offshore oil platform, is being developed by SBM Offshore in collaboration with ExxonMobil Guyana, the operator of the Stabroek Block.

Once operational, the vessel is expected to produce 250,000 barrels of oil per day, pushing Guyana’s total daily oil output to more than 1.3 million barrels. The Jaguar FPSO will be deployed at the Whiptail development site.

During the ceremony, Minister of Natural Resources Vickram Bharrat expressed pride in the unprecedented growth of Guyana’s oil and gas sector.

He highlighted that opportunities for local businesses are crucial to ensuring compliance with the Local Content Law, which aims to maximize the benefits of the sector for Guyanese citizens.

ExxonMobil Guyana President Alistair Routledge underscored the importance of sourcing locally, even though materials for the FPSOs could be acquired more affordably from countries such as China and Singapore.

Routledge emphasized that supporting local capacity building and ensuring that Guyanese people benefit from their natural resources aligns with the partnership’s mission and values.
