Teens Accused of Robbing Man Granted Bail

December 5 2025
Two teenagers were on Wednesday placed on bail after they were brought before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court charged in connection with a robbery at Mc Doom, Greater Georgetown.
The defendants, Jason Titus and Judah Jordan, appeared virtually before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty, where they both denied the allegation.
According to the charge, the teens, acting together on November 30, 2025, robbed Dwayne Barton of $434,329 in cash. After the incident, police say the pair fled the scene on a motorcycle.
Attorney Stacy Goodings, who represented Titus, told the court that her client, 19, is a student of the Guyana Industrial Training Centre and resides in Alberttown, Georgetown.
She added that Titus’ mother, who lives at Goedverwagting, East Coast Demerara, is prepared to ensure his attendance at all hearings. Goodings emphasized that Titus does not own a passport and firmly rejects the allegations against him.
Jordan, who spoke on his own behalf, informed the magistrate that he works as a pump attendant and is a resident of Charlestown, Georgetown.
Prosecutor Cadogan opposed bail for both defendants, pointing to the rise in robbery cases during the Christmas season.
He argued that Jordan allegedly recruited Titus for the crime and that a substantial amount of money was recovered from Jordan when the teens were apprehended.
The prosecutor further noted that investigators have obtained video footage capturing the robbery.
Goodings maintained that the prosecution’s concerns did not justify denying bail.
She submitted that the court could impose strict conditions, if necessary, but insisted there was nothing before the court indicating that Titus would fail to return.
After considering the submissions and the ages of the accused, Acting Chief Magistrate McGusty granted each teen $200,000 bail.
As part of their conditions, the magistrate ordered that they report to the Agricola Police Outpost every Friday between 16:00h. and 17:00h.
The case will be called again on January 14, 2026.
