‘Annie’ Charged with Malicious Damage to Property

December 5 2025
Raywattie “Annie” Khemraj, 43, a businesswoman of Mon Repos North, East Coast Demerara, has been charged in connection with an alleged malicious damage to property incident that occurred on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Mon Repos, ECD.
Khemraj appeared before Magistrate Abigail Gibbs at the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Court today.
She was read a charge of Malicious Damage to Property, where she entered a plea of not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of $150,000.
The case has been adjourned to January 26, 2026.
Police reported that the incident unfolded around 07:10 hrs on December 3, when motor canter GAC 7299, driven by 49-year-old Rohit Narine of Good Hope, was traveling north along Mon Repos School Road.
Narine told investigators he was forced to swerve after Khemraj, driving motorcar PAG 4521, allegedly sped into his path. Both vehicles continued on their route after the near collision.
Narine further alleged that while he was waiting at a traffic light shortly after, Khemraj approached via a cross street, exited her vehicle with a metal pipe, and struck his canter multiple times—breaking a window and damaging the right-side rear-view mirror, with the total damage estimated at $150,000.
Traffic ranks later intercepted and arrested Khemraj. She was taken to the Mon Repos Police Outpost and placed in custody.
Khemraj was also previously charged in November for allegedly using a computer system to disseminate false information about Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation Deodat Indar. She was granted $150,000 bail in that matter and is currently required to lodge her passport, refrain from using social media, and report to the police monthly.
