Police have launched a serious investigation into an alleged incident involving a 14-year-old female student from the East Bank of Demerara, reported to have occurred at approximately 18:00 hrs on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

Initial findings indicate that the teenager was taken to a residence in Sophia while in an unconscious state by other juveniles. She was later transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where she was admitted for urgent medical care. Authorities have confirmed that she is now conscious and remains in stable condition.

Police believe the teen had been in the company of the same juveniles prior to losing consciousness, and there are concerns that alcohol consumption may have played a role in the incident.

At this stage, no arrests have been made. Several persons have been interviewed as police work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the matter. Law enforcement officials are also actively seeking three juveniles who were reportedly present during the incident.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities say all aspects of the case are being treated with the utmost seriousness.
