Shamar Williams Charged with Assaulting Officer, Cited for Numerous Traffic Breaches

June 2, 2025 — Shamar Williams, a 24-year-old resident of the Sophia Squatting Area, appeared before two Georgetown magistrates on Monday to answer to a series of charges, including assaulting a police officer and multiple traffic violations.
Williams first appeared before Magistrate Fabayo. Azore at the Georgetown Magistrate Court, where he was charged in connection with an altercation involving Police Constable Frank Corlette. He faced the following charges:

Assault Causing Actual Bodily Harm – Williams pleaded not guilty and was granted $15,000 bail.

Damage to Property – He also pleaded not guilty and was granted $10,000 bail.

Assaulting a Peace Officer with Intent to Resist Lawful Arrest – For this charge, Williams was remanded to prison.

In total, Williams was fined $325,000 and granted $10,000 bail in relation to the traffic charges.
