‘Labba’ accomplice jailed for spate of ECD armed robberies

A 21-year-old man, who is said to be an accomplice of alleged crime spree bandit Dexter Mc Donald, called ‘Labba’, has pleaded guilty to a spate of armed robberies and burglaries that occurred on the East Coast of Demerara.

 

On Thursday, May 23, he was remanded on 21 charges.

 

Terry Thomas called ‘Devon’ or ‘Popie’ of Annandale North, East Coast Demerara and Achawib Lethem, Region 9, has been in custody since May 19.

 

His charges include the attempted murder of Guyana Defence Force rank Azim Khan which May 6 at Lot 534 Block 8 Mon Repos East Coast Demerara.

 

He was remanded to prisonand the matter was adjourned to June 6.

 

Other charges, for which he appeared before Magistrate Fabio Azore, are: robbery under arms committed on Alicia Edwards on 2024-04-29 at Annandale Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 24 months mprisonment.

 

He was sentenced to a further 36 months for robbery under arms (with firearm) committed on Navindra Ramdeen on 2024-05-08 at Lusignan, East Coast Demerara.

 

A further 18 months for gunpoint robbery on Alana Edwards at Annandale Housing Scheme, ECD.

 

36 months for a burglary at the home of Junior Blair, where a 9 mm Taurus pistol, 12 live rounds of ammunition, property of the Guyana Police Force was stolen at Victoria, East Side Line, East Coast Demerara.

 

36 months for robbery, while using a cutlass and knife, on Kevlyn Jeune at Enmore North, East Coast Demerara.

 

36 months for break and enter and larceny at the Buxton Company Road, East Coast Demerara home of Stacy Williams.

 

18 months for armed robbery committed on Sharon Sarjoo, at Cove and John Public Road, ECD.

 

36 months for burglary at the home of Junior Blair, where two laptop computers, two Samsung cellphones, cash, and other items value $278,000 ( property of Roxanne Blair) of Victoria East Side Line, ECD.

 

24 months for burglary at the home of Junior Blair (one HP laptop computer, and two Samsung cellphones valued $201,000) were stolen.

 

36 months for break and enter and larceny committed on Marlon Mitchell, at Lot 137 Eastville Annandale East Coast Demerara.

 

24 months for burglary committed on Travis Cush, Sergeant of Police stationed at the Tactical Service Unit, at Lot 7 Section (D) Non-Pariel ECD.

 

36 months for robbery under arms committed on Hardeo Chairanji at Lot 316 Block 8 Mon Repos East Coast Demerara.

 

18 months for burglary committed on Karen Dundas at 11 Buxton Company Road, ECD.

 

60 months (concurrently) for robbery under arms committed on Ramdular Seewah at Lot 856 Martyrs Ville Block 8 Mon Repos; East Coast Demerara.

 

60 months (concurrently) for robbery under arms committed on Durginie Churman at Lot 856 Martyrs Ville Block 8 Mon Repos, in which two Samsung cellphones valued at $220,000 GYC; gold jewelry valued at $388,000 ; an Amazon tablet valued at $20,000, were stolen.

 

For break and enter and larceny committed on Vestery Persaud which of Lot 343 8th Street Martyrs Ville Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, in which two STIHL weeding machine total value $320,000 were stolen.

The accused pleaded not guilty and was remanded.

 

He was also sentenced to 18 months imprisonment for burglary committed on the dwelling house of Saskia Morris, at Lot 35 North Melanie East Coast Demerara;

 

On Tuesday, May 21, his alleged accomplice, Dexter Mc Donald, called ‘Labba’, was remanded on 14 charges, including the attempted murder of GDF rank Azim Khan.
