Kaieteur News grenade attack suspect Shemar Wilson was gunned down on Sunday in Suriname.

Media reports out of the Dutch-speaking territory state that Wilson, known as ‘Abdue’, was in a car in Kwattaweg, Suriname, when a hail of bullets struck the vehicle from behind.

Wilson said to be 27, died on the spot. Video footage showed the victim slumped in the car.

Police had issued a bulletin in for Wilson, of Lot 43 North Sophia, Georgetown and Lot 51 West La Penitence, Georgetown, for the June 2016 grenade attack on the Kaieteur News office in Saffon Street, Charlestown. The bulletin had stated that he was wanted for “attempting to cause an explosion.”

According to reports, on the day of the attack, a security staffer heard an unusual sound coming from near the Lexus SUV, PRR 8398, owned by Kaieteur News publisher Lall, which, was parked on the western side of Saffon Street. On checking the front of the vehicle, the staffer saw a grenade near one of the front tyres.

Video footage from the company’s CCTV cameras showed a grey-coloured vehicle, slowing as it approached Lall’s vehicle. The driver accelerated after the explosive device was thrown.

Media reports in September 2019, had stated that Wilson was taken into custody in Guyana after being deported from French Guiana.

Big Smith Nsews Watch also understands that a Guyanese woman was slain in French Guiana on Friday.

The 30-year-old woman has only been identified as ‘Flo’ a Guyanese living in French Guiana.

According to information, she was shot dead in the Balata area around midnight on her birthday, February 24th 2023. Reports are that she was the companion of a man who was killed at the same place in October last year.
