Kenrick Cort and Neil Cort, two brothers who worked as crew members operating the canteen on the MV Barima, are among the persons who remain missing after the vessel sank off the coast of Essequibo between July 18 and 19, 2026, while travelling from Georgetown to Port Kaituma.

Their niece, Sherisa Soanes, told BIG Smith News Watch that Kenrick Cort, 74, of Ruimveldt Market Street, was an entrepreneur who was last seen onboard the vessel.

She said his brother, Neil Cort, also known as “Canteen Man” or “Bro Cort,” 58, of 970 B Field Sophia, was also an entrepreneur who operated the canteen on the MV Barima.

Soanes said the family is desperate for any information regarding the brothers’ whereabouts as the search continues for those missing from the vessel.
