Shaka Phillips, also known as ‘Concrete Man,’ was on Thursday formally charged with the murder of 26-year-old Linden school teacher Jenel Pollidore.

Phillips, a 21-year-old labourer from Amelia’s Ward, Linden, was arrested on July 20, 2025, in connection with the fatal incident, which occurred a day earlier in Central Amelia’s Ward.

He appeared virtually before Senior Magistrate Rondel Weaver at the Linden Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read. Phillips was not required to enter a plea and was denied bail. He has been remanded to prison until the next court hearing, scheduled for August 28, 2025, when disclosure is expected.

The victim, Jenel Pollidore, of Lower Kara Kara, Mackenzie, Linden, was a dedicated teacher whose untimely death has shocked the local community. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
