Sherlon Joseph, a 30-year-old crew member of the MV Barima, is among the persons who remain missing after the vessel sank off the coast of Essequibo between July 18 and 19, 2026, while travelling from Georgetown to Port Kaituma.
His cousin, Emily Gibson, told BIG Smith News Watch that Joseph, who is from Lot 655 Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo, had been working in the North West District for about three years after being transferred there.
Gibson said the family last heard from Joseph at approximately 3:28 p.m. on the day of the incident and has not received any further communication since then.
She said the family remains hopeful for any information about his whereabouts.
