The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) turned the spotlight on the heroes of the 2025 season, hosting a high-energy check presentation ceremony on Monday at the National Training Centre that celebrated triumph of the clubs and players from the Women’s Division One League Cup and the Super 16 Cup.

Leading the charge were GFF Vice President Dion Inniss and General Secretary Pushpargha Chattopadhyay, who handed over prize cheques to the season’s top performers, reinforcing the Federation’s drive to reward excellence and fuel continued growth across the football landscape.

The Women’s Division One League Cup wrapped up in thrilling fashion, highlighting the fierce competitiveness now defining women’s football in Guyana. Guyana Defence Force FC powered their way to the title with a commanding campaign to win the first prize of $300,000, while Guyana Police Force FC mounted a strong challenge to finish close behind for the second prize of $200,000. Santos FC and Fruta Conquerors FC also made their mark, closing the season with spirited performances that earned them recognition among the country’s elite.

The drama only intensified with the Super 16 Cup, a tournament packed with high-stakes clashes and roaring supporters. Western Tigers FC roared to championship glory after a dominant run for the top prize of $2,000,000, while Slingerz FC proved formidable opponents throughout the competition for the second prize of $1,000,000. Guyana Defence Force FC once again showcased their consistency on the national stage, with Guyana Police Force FC completing the top contenders after a hard-fought campaign.

Individual stars shone just as brightly. Kevon Woodley delivered a season to remember, stamping his authority on the competition with match-winning performances that earned him top individual honors. Between the posts, Joel Yhap stood tall, producing crucial saves that set him apart as the tournament’s outstanding goalkeeper.
