Businessman’s guns seized, security detail arrested

41-year-old Samora Hadeway, a truck driver was forced to take evasive measures to preserve his life after security guards for a popular city businessman opened fire on struck he was driving on Tuesday night.
Hadeaway told BIG Smith News Watch that he and a porter went to Garnett Street to uplift a container that was dropped off at the Luminous store for discharge. He said when he arrived at the location, the men were still discharging the container so he pulled to the shoulder of the road in an effort not to block the flow of traffic.
Hadeway explained as he remained in the truck, he heard a commotion and when he looked into the side mirrors, he saw men pulling off the battery cover. He explained that he exited the truck put the cover back onto the battery and returned to the truck’s cabin.
Shortly after that, he began revving the truck to build up its pressure in a bid to move off, at that point he explained, the men then ran to the side of the truck and started banging it with guns while shouting “This is Asif truck”
he said ae he moved the truck off, the men began shooting at it and the front wheel which resulted in it suffering a flat tire.
According to Hadeaway, he telephoned his boss and the police to inform them of the matter. His boss arrived before the police he recalled. Hadeaway related that when the police came, someone came up to them and informed them that the men who shot at the truck were in a car. the car which had left then returned and the man pointed it out to the police who gave chase.
The police intercepted the car, arrested the men, and seized three guns. The guns are said to be registered to one Avenish of Garnett and Middleton Streets in Georgetown.
Today several efforts to contact Regional Commander Assistant Commissioner Simon Mc Bean for a comment on the matter proved futile. We were told that he is not in the jurisdiction but is still overseeing the division’s operations.
The matter remains under investigation.
