Several Police recruits in training at the Guyana Police Force Academy have come forward and confided in this publication that a sex ring is being operated inside the Academy’s walls, operated by several male instructors.
In one case, there is evidence that shows a female recruit performing oral sex on a male who was identified as an instructor; this publication has been able to confirm.
This latest development to surface, coming even as the Police Office of Professional Responsibility launched an investigation in the last quarter of 2025, has recruits at the Academy questioning the weight transfers and OPR investigations to serve as a deterrent to those who prey on police in training.
Unidentifiable and identifiable males, some of them policemen, are allowed into the Academy’s compound after hours and are locked in rooms with recruits who are then made to perform sexual intercourse with the males.
“We beg for urgent intervention.”- “The sexual harassment and inappropriate conduct at our Training School is out of control.”- ” Several identifiable police and unidentifiable males were seen in the compound; My squaddies and I found it strange because no visitors are allowed after 6:00 PM.” is among the direct issues raised by the recruits in the complaints given to this publication.
The sexual exploitation of young recruits inside the Guyana Police Force Training School, now Police Academy, is nothing new, and in years gone by, the issues have never been dealt with in a manner to send serious and strong messages to those in authority who seek to use the recruits as their sex slaves.
In 2020, the Senior Superintendent of Police Fizal Karimbaksh (now Deputy Commissioner of Police) was investigated, and it was found that he was in breach of the Police Discipline Act and that there was enough evidence presented for him to be charged criminally for sexual harassment of two female police recruits. He is reported to have sexually harassed the recruits while serving as Deputy Training Officer of the then Guyana Police Force Training School, now Guyana Police Force Academy.
Many felt that had the force handled the matter with Karimbaksh in accordance with the law, since there was enough evidence for him to be charged with sexual harassment, it would have sent a clear message that the force is not condoning such behaviour. However, Karimkaksh was allowed to continue his service within the force, elevated through the ranks, and now serves as a key member of the Guyana Police Force and is among the organisation’s Executive Leadership team.
This publication reached out to the Guyana Police Force’s head of Corporate Communications, Deputy Superintendent Moore, who was asked if the force was informed about this matter. Like in many instances and in her usual fashion of ignoring the media when asked about serious matters, she ignored the question and provided no acknowledgement or response.
