Woman’s body found floating in North Ruimveldt trench

The unidentified body of a woman was discovered in a trench at North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, earlier today.
According to a police report, the body—believed to be that of a woman of mixed ancestry, estimated to be between 40 and 50 years old—was discovered around 10:00 hrs in a trench located between Barbie Dam and Lamaha Springs.
Initial investigations revealed that the woman’s body was found floating face down in the trench, with several visible marks observed on her body.
The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear.
Emergency Medical Technicians were summoned to the scene, and the body was later removed from the trench. A doctor on duty from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) pronounced the woman dead.
The body was subsequently escorted to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it is being kept pending positive identification and a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Police said several individuals were contacted and questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have indicated that inquiries are continuing as they work to establish the woman’s identity and the circumstances leading to her death.
