Guyanese woman killed in Brooklyn Murder Suicide

News reports out of Brooklyn in the United States have confirmed that a Guyanese woman was shot multiple times by her husband, a Haitian National as they sat in a SUV- Sport Utility Vehicle.

In an article carried by Daily News out of the United States of America, the couple was identified as 49-year-old Andre Myrtil and 39-year-old Petula Myrtil. While the report did not identify any of the two as Guyanese, persons familiar with the couple identified the woman as Guyanese National and the man as a Haitian National.
In the report from Daily News, it stated that the two were sitting together in a parked SUV on Monday morning, that bit of information according to Daily Mail was attributed to the police.
“Andre Myrtil, 49, shot 39-year-old Petula Myrtil multiple times then shot himself once in the head as they sat in a parked Suburban at Louisiana Ave. and Twin Pines Drive East in Starrett City about 9:15 a.m., cops said.” The Daily News report stated.
The couple according to the report, lived at East Flatbush, about two miles from the crime scene with their two young children, relatives and neighbors said.
The report further stated that the couple was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital but could not be saved.
“I‘ve never seen no altercations,” next-door neighbor Lillian Shennida,” said of the couple. “They had two sons — usually he (Andre) would take them to school around the corner.” The report also quoted persons as saying.
