Blanhum back at CID; Watts, McBean, Ramlakhan, Andries-Junor gets new role

Senior Superintendent Wendell Blanhum

Senior Superintendent Wendell Blanhum has been instructed to return to the Criminal Investigation Department where he will function as the Crime Chief. Blanhum will take up the post within the new week.

Blanhum was removed from his Crime Chief position and sent to ‘A’ Division were he functioned as Deputy Commander. He was then removed out of that posting and sent to the Projects Unit otherwise known as the ‘pen’ within the force.

The ‘Pen’ is an area of the force where senior officers who do not find favor with the government or the police commissioner would usually be posted and is saddled with heaps of paperwork.

After his stint there, he was then transferred to Region 1 as the Commander. His transfer to that location came even as he was wrapping up his University of Guyana Studies. Blanhum has requested the force to reconsider the decision to send him to Region 1 given his University commitments and his transfer was placed on hold by then Minister of Public Security Khemraj Ramjattan.

However he mysteriously still ended up being transfer to Region 1 where he has been commanding for about three years now. He was also able to improvise and managed to complete his studies.

Blanhum will be replaced in Region 1 as commander by Superintendent Jairam Ramlakhan who has served as the force Public Relations Officer for years.

There are other changes likely to come along within the Guyana Police Force as the new government settles in reposition agencies and ministries according to their work plan.
