‘Biggie’ Convicted of 2021 Charlestown Murder

October 18 2024 –Lenroy Michael Forde, also known as ‘Biggie’, has been found guilty of the 2021 murder of Odingo Anthony Heywood following a trial at the Demerara High Court.
The case, which was presided over by Justice Sandil Kissoon, began on October 14, 2024, and ended with Forde’s conviction on October 17, 2024.
Forde was charged with fatally shooting Heywood during a confrontation on April 21, 2021, at the victim’s home in Charlestown, Georgetown.

Dead: Odingo Anthony Haywood
According to the prosecution, led by State Counsel Alvaro Ramotar and State Counsel Delon Fraser, Forde went to Heywood’s residence, where a dispute erupted.
During the altercation, Forde pulled out a gun and fired 10 shots at Heywood, striking him in the back. Heywood, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident was reportedly triggered by a dispute over an alleged robbery involving an acquaintance of Heywood. Police probe later confirmed that the murder was linked to the unresolved conflict.
Despite the defence’s efforts, led by attorney Glendon Greenidge of Greenidge and Associates, to argue Forde’s innocence, the jury delivered a unanimous guilty verdict, rejecting Forde’s claims.
Following the murder, Forde managed to evade law enforcement for several days. A wanted bulletin was issued, and Forde was eventually arrested while attempting to flee to Region Seven by boat.
Along with Forde, a woman accused of harbouring him was also taken into police custody.
Justice Kissoon has scheduled Forde’s sentencing for November 8, 2024, where he will learn his fate for the 2021 murder that shook the Charlestown community.
