On Sunday morning, Sarah Elizabeth Shivpersaud took the life of her young daughter following her husband’s failure to return home.
The deceased is identified as Isabella Dabadial, aged 7, a student at Cooper Primary School.
Isabella, remembered by relatives as a joyful, kind and deeply religious child who brought happiness to everyone around her, has died following a tragic incident in Berbice that has left a family and community in mourning.
The child, described as always happy and eager to seriously follow her faith, was found unresponsive alongside her mother and younger sibling inside their home. Despite desperate efforts to revive her, she was later pronounced dead.
Her grandmother, Lalita Brijlall, recounted the chilling sequence of events in an emotional interview with NCN News, explaining that she became alarmed after seeing a troubling message on Facebook and receiving no response to repeated calls.
Fearing the worst, she went to the home accompanied by another relative. Unable to gain entry, they peered through a window where they saw the mother and two children lying motionless on a bed. The toddler, however, was still moving and showing signs of life.
The grandmother said the mother appeared to be bleeding.
Acting quickly, they used a hammer to break open the door and rushed inside. While the toddler was responsive, all attempts to wake the seven-year-old girl proved futile.
The child’s death has devastated relatives, who continue to remember her as a bright, loving soul whose presence lit up their lives.
Only one of the three victims survived the ordeal. Authorities are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
