BELL 412 Rescue Mission: Rescue teams having weather challenges

An update to the media given at 12:06 by the Guyana Defence Force Public Relations unit has stated that the attempted insertion of the rescue team to the site of the Bell 412 crash continues to be challenged by the weather conditions.

The next attempt according to the GDF PR, will be done at 12:45 on Thursday afternoon when the weather is expected to be favourable.

There has been no confirmation on how many survivors have been spotted at the crash site.

At first light today, the GDF recommenced its search and rescue operation for the craft and 7 personnel who were on board when the chopper lost communication on Wednesday morning and went down into a densely forested area.

By 10:59, the Guyana Defence Force reported that the crash site had been located and positive signs of life were spotted, waving to the rescue team.

The GDF Bell 412 went down as the crew and passengers were heading to Guyana’s western border to visit troops working in those areas.
