The diagram released by the Guyana Power and Light to guide marine operators

The Guyana Power and Light 69KV submarine cable linking Vreed-en-Hoop and Kingston Power plants that was damaged sometime back has been completely repaired.

A release from the power company today indicated that company was able to restore power transfer on October 24, 2019.

According to the power company, it is pleading with those persons and companies operating vessels in the Demerara River to be very cognizant of developments and repaired cable and to exercise extreme caution when traversing in the proximity of the cable.

The route which the cable runs has been provided by the Guyana Power and Light so as to effectively guide marine operators and pilots of its location so when traversing they can avoid disrupting the cable.

Based on a diagram made available by the power company, the cable is located at an exact point of 519 on the Navigation Chart.

The Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) has been apprised of the developments and was asked by the power company to closely monitor the vessels when in the vicinity of the cable.
