Flags to fly at half mast as nation mourns in GDF’s air tragedy

Guyana commissions 'Heroes' Highway" after Bell 412 crash victims

The Golden Arrow Head and all flags at state institutions and agencies are to be flown at Half Mast with immediate effect until further notice.

The Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday announced ”The Golden Arrow Head and National Institution Flags to be flown at Half Mast Until Further Notice” 

It has been confirmed that four senior Guyana Defence Force Officers were killed in a helicopter crash that occurred on Wednesday at Arau. At the time of the crash, there were seven GDF personnel on board the Bell 412.

Confirmed dead are Colonel Michael Shahoud, Lieutenant Colonel Michael Charles, Lieutenant Colonel Sean Welcome, Retired Brigadier Gary Beaton, and Staff Sergeant Jason Khan.

Those surviving the crash are Lieutenant Andeo Crawford and Corporal Dwayne Jackson.
