AGRI Min Announces Development Plans for Baracara

November 11 2024– Over the weekend, Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha met with farmers and residents of Baracara to discuss strategies for further enhancing agricultural activities in the area.
During the visit, Minister Mustapha reiterated the government’s commitment to unlocking the agricultural potential of Baracara and other farming communities across Guyana.
As part of the government’s continued support, Minister Mustapha distributed planting materials, agricultural chemicals, and other essential inputs to local farmers.
This initiative builds on previous interventions, including the distribution of breeding animals to boost the cattle and small ruminant sectors, black giant chicks to promote poultry farming, and various planting materials alongside infrastructural upgrades.
The government’s initiatives have already spurred development in the community, with farmland now being cultivated for red bean production as part of a larger plan to position Baracara as a leading producer of the high-demand crop.
Minister Mustapha emphasized that the government’s agricultural agenda aims to empower farmers, improve livelihoods, and maximize productivity, ensuring that communities like Baracara thrive as vital contributors to Guyana’s agricultural sector.
