ROBBED: Dineshwar Panalall

2020 is proving to be a rough year for Corentyne, Berbice cambio dealer, Dineshwar Panalall.

The cambio dealer who was robbed earlier this year was one of two persons robbed on Friday morning by a gun toting bandit while at the Skeldon market.

In relating what happened, Panalall recalled seeing the bandit walking in his direction, “I see him coming but I didn’t think he was coming to rob me or anything so I didn’t do anything, Panalall said, “When the man reach up to me he pull out a gun and crank it asking me for money and searching me up.” he said

Panalall explained that he had not started business for the day but he had an amount of money on his person.

The bandit relieved him of that cash and proceeded to rob a stallholder in the market.

The other victim, Vibert Dan said he was relieved of his cellular phone, wallet containing his ID and other personal documents and a sum of cash.

Both men told the Big Smith News Watch that they tried to follow the man following his escape but they were unable to keep up, “He run out and gone towards the bridge at the back, so I pick up my bicycle and try going behind him and I tell Dan to go the other side but we couldn’t catch him.” Panalall related.

It was during that attempt to catch the man, that the businessmen alerted some police ranks who were on the roadway.

The police in a search also failed to find the bandit.
A police investigation is underway.
