Shawn Edinboro, a former police constable and Michael Bishop are presently on trial before High Court Judge Brassington Reynolds and a jury for the 2014 murder of Raphael Campbell, the taxi driver who was shot dead then dumped at Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara.

Between January 2 and January 3, 2013, it is alleged that they murdered 30-year-old Campbell of Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara.

They have pleaded not guilty to the charge.  Lawyers Bernard Da Silva and Latchmie Rahamat are appearing for the murder accused, while Attorneys-at-Law Seeta Bishundial and Tyra Bakker are appearing for the State.

Media reports are that Campbell picked up some male passengers at Camp Street, Georgetown on January 2, 2014, and took them to the East Coast of Demerara where he was slain and dumped.  It was reported that the taxi driver was savagely beaten and stabbed to the head.</div

The following day Edinboro, Bishop and another man Shawn Collins were stopped at a roadblock along the Soesdyke/Linden highway in a car  belonging to the dead taxi driver. It was reported that Edinboro escaped. The other two men were detained by the Police.

In November 2020, Collins was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment for the taxi driver’s killing. Initially indicted for murder, Collins appeared at the Georgetown High Court and pleaded guilty to the lesser count of manslaughter.
