Three Farmers dead after altercation in Aranka

Three farmers, including a husband and wife, are dead following a violent incident at Aranka Village, Baramita, North West District, on Saturday.
The dead have been identified as 40-year-old Joy John, her 38-year-old husband Amar Thomas, and 62-year-old Tony Williams. The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on September 19, 2026.
John and Thomas lived together at a camp in the area with their five-year-old son, while Williams reportedly lived at another camp approximately 20 miles away.
According to a police report, Williams went to the couple’s camp, where an argument reportedly developed between him and John. Williams allegedly struck John to her neck with a cutlass.
Thomas, who was reportedly returning from his farm at the time, subsequently confronted Williams, leading to an altercation between the two men. Both reportedly sustained injuries during the confrontation.
John was found motionless at the camp, while Thomas was found about 50 feet away. Williams was later found approximately 100 feet from the camp along a track.
The three were taken to the Baramita Cottage Hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival. John reportedly suffered a wound to her neck, Thomas had a stab wound to his left groin area, while Williams sustained a stab wound to the left side of his chest.
Their bodies remain at the hospital mortuary pending post-mortem examinations as authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the deadly incident.
