BREAKING NEWS: Younge's Family push back against second autopsy

April 15 2026

An inquest will be conducted into the death of Adriana Younge, following legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

According to a GPF statement,  the DPP has recommended that a formal inquiry be carried out to determine the cause of, and circumstances surrounding, Younge’s death, which occurred between April 23 and 24, 2025, at Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo.

Younge’s death had drawn public attention at the time, with questions raised about the events leading up to her passing and calls for greater clarity surrounding the circumstances. The case has remained a matter of interest for relatives and community members, who have been seeking answers.

Authorities have since acknowledged receipt of the directive and have begun taking the necessary steps in accordance with the legal process to facilitate the inquest.

The Guyana Police Force has indicated that it remains mindful of the importance of maintaining public confidence in such matters, and has reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, accountability and integrity throughout the proceedings.

Further updates are expected as the process unfolds.
