17-Y-O motorcyclist killed in collision at Lima Sands

A 17-year-old motorcyclist lost his life following a collision on the Lima Sands Access Road, Essequibo Coast on Sunday night, February 22, 2026.
Dead is Sudesh Ram John of Lima Sands. The accident occurred at about 8:00 p.m. and involved motor car PAD 3341, driven by a 44-year-old man of Cotton Field, and an unregistered motorcycle ridden by the teenager. A 21-year-old pillion rider, also from Lima Sands, was on the motorcycle at the time.
Police reports indicate that the car was proceeding south along the access road while the motorcycle was heading in the opposite direction when the two vehicles collided. The impact flung both the rider and pillion rider onto the roadway, leaving them with serious injuries.
Public-spirited citizens rushed the injured men to the Lima Regional Hospital, where the teen motorcyclist was pronounced dead on arrival. The pillion rider was treated and remains hospitalised.
A breath analysis conducted on the driver of the motor car recorded readings of 67, 75 and 73 micrograms, above the legal limit of 35 micrograms.
The body of the deceased has been transferred to the Suddie Hospital Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
