Earlier today, Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha participated in a panel discussion on water, at the Norman Borlaug International Dialogue, Harnessing Change in Des Moines, Iowa.

Minister Mustapha explained that despite having an abundant supply of clean water, the government has recognized that if not managed properly, Guyana stands to lose the potential benefits of this critical resource.

“It is with this consciousness that we have been working to improve water management and access through modern policy, legislative and institutional interventions. Our national development agenda is informed by our Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) 2030,” he added.

The event was organized by IICA and the World Food Prize Foundation and is being hosted under the theme Water for Food: Without Water, there is No Food Security.
