The bodies of two persons who went missing at Unity Beach, East Coast Demerara, on Sunday, May 31, 2026, were recovered on Tuesday afternoon within mangroves along the Unity Sea Front area.

The deceased have been identified as Andri Francis and Lyodisa Waldron of Victoria Village, East Coast Demerara.

Police said the first body was discovered around 13:00 hrs during a search operation involving ranks and public-spirited citizens. The remains were found concealed in mangroves at Unity Sea Front.

A subsequent search in the same area led to the discovery of the second body approximately 500 feet away, also within mangroves.

The bodies were identified by relatives before being transported to the Enmore Regional Hospital, where they were pronounced dead by a doctor on duty. They were later taken to the Memorial Funeral Home, pending post-mortem examinations.

Investigations are ongoing.
