The Ministry of Natural Resources, through the Local Content Secretariat (LCS), has launched a new digital Local Content Registration Portal to simplify the registration and certification of suppliers and contractors in Guyana’s oil and gas sector.

The portal introduces a centralized, digital workflow designed to reduce processing times, improve transparency, and make it easier for businesses to operate in the country.

Applications can now be submitted entirely online, eliminating manual paperwork and administrative delays, while automated workflows and timers ensure consistent and efficient internal reviews.

Speaking at the launch which was held today at th Duke Lodge, Minister of Natural Resources Vickram Bharrat said, “This portal strengthens transparency and accountability in how applications are processed.

It reduces administrative bottlenecks, enhances internal oversight, and provides suppliers with the clarity they need to operate effectively within Guyana’s Local Content framework.”

Director of the LCS, Michael Munroe, added, “By introducing clear timelines, automation, and real-time tracking, we are ensuring that Guyanese businesses can engage the oil and gas sector with greater confidence, predictability, and efficiency.”

Under the new framework, processing timelines are as follows:

* Sole proprietors: New applications – 5 working days; Renewals – 3 working days

* 100% Guyanese-owned companies: New – 15 working days; Renewals – 10 working days

* All other companies: New – 21 working days; Renewals – 15 working days

The portal allows applicants to track their application status in real time, reducing uncertainty and minimizing follow-up queries.

Operational efficiencies such as reduced manual data entry, automated workflows, and improved reporting also free LCS staff to focus on substantive review and compliance.

For the private sector, the portal offers faster processing, clearer timelines, and greater transparency, strengthening compliance with Local Content requirements and enhancing Guyana’s investment climate.

The MNR encourages all prospective and existing suppliers to register through the new Local Content Portal to take full advantage of its streamlined features.
