Police Officer Fatally Shot by Businessman at Vreed-en-Hoop

34-Y-0 Lance Corporal Richard Hayes of Jetty Squatting Area, was shot and killed during an early-morning incident at the Vreed-en-Hoop Stelling, West Coast Demerara.
Reports indicate that Hayes became involved in an argument with a businessman, reportedly, the proprietor of Konnect Cell Phone Shop located at the stelling. The confrontation reportedly escalated, during which the suspect allegedly drew his licensed firearm and shot Hayes.
Information reaching BIG Smith News Watch revealed that Hayes sustained two gunshot wounds to his right chest. He was pronounced dead shortly after the incident.
It is being reported that the victim was in partial uniform at the time of the incident.
Police have since arrested the businessman and seized his firearm as investigations continue.
Authorities are working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the altercation, and additional details will be released as the probe progresses.
