Venezuelan Teen Arrested for Cocaine Possession

An 18-year-old Venezuelan national was arrested on Wednesday afternoon after police discovered a quantity of suspected cocaine in his possession during a patrol in Helena #2, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara.
According to a police report, around 17:00 hrs, police ranks on motorcycle patrol duty stopped the construction worker, who was seen standing on a bridge with a black one-strap bag around his neck. A search was conducted on his person and the bag, during which ranks discovered a transparent zip-lock bag containing seven parcels wrapped in black plastic and one in white plastic.
Upon inspection, the parcels were found to contain pieces of a hard, rock-like substance suspected to be cocaine.
The suspect was cautioned, arrested, and taken to the Mahaica Police Station. There, the substance was weighed and amounted to 11 grams.
The Venezuelan national remains in custody as investigations continue.
