Pandit in Custody for assaulting motorcyclist at Zeelugt

Police in Regional Division #3 are investigating an alleged assault that took place on Sunday, November 30, 2025, around 20:00 hrs at Fisher Dam Access Road, Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo.
According to initial reports, the incident began when a 25-year-old construction worker of Zeelugt North, who was riding an electric motorcycle, collided with a 32-year-old pandit of Zeelugt Housing Scheme. The pandit was reportedly standing on the roadway with a gathering at the time of the collision.
Following the crash, the pandit allegedly assaulted the rider, causing injuries to his face and body.
The 32-year-old suspect was later arrested and is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
The injured man was treated at the De Kinderen Regional Hospital and subsequently discharged.
Police say the investigation remains active.
