Some 373 serious crimes were investigated since the 2nd of August, 2020 to most recently says Home Affairs Minister Robeson Benn. The Minister provided that number when he replied to a question posed by shadow Home Affairs Minister Geeta Chandan-Edmond in the National Assembly.

The Home Affairs Minister told the House that from August to now some 267 prosecutions have taken place. There is no indication whether all of these are directly linked to serious crimes.
The Minister could not provide a breakdown of convictions by different types of crimes within the aforementioned period, “the number of convictions remain a work in progress awaiting judicial reviews,” he said in his written reply to the House.

Meanwhile, Minister Benn told the House that some 35 persons have been arrested for trafficking narcotics. These arrests were made by the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit. Out of that thirty-five, thirteen persons have been charged and prosecuted, the Minister said as he responded to another question posed by MP Chandan-Edmond.

Out of that thirty-five only four have been convicted.
